Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: May 2, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of FileTransferFree (the “Service”). It supplements our Terms of Service. We may update it at any time. By using the Service you agree to comply with this AUP.
1. The bottom line
FileTransferFree is a privacy-respecting tool. We don’t see what you transfer, but we still expect everyone to use the Service lawfully and respectfully. If we are made aware of conduct that violates this AUP we may block access, refuse service, and where required by law report the conduct to authorities.
2. Prohibited content & conduct
You must not use the Service to upload, share, transfer, request, host the request of, or solicit:
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or any sexual content involving minors. This is strictly prohibited and we will cooperate with law enforcement to the fullest extent permitted.
- Non-consensual intimate imagery (so-called “revenge porn”) or content created or distributed without the subject’s consent.
- Content that promotes or facilitates terrorism, mass violence, or self-harm, including instructions for building weapons designed to cause mass casualties.
- Malware, ransomware, viruses, spyware, exploit kits, credential stealers, or any code intended to damage, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to a computer system.
- Phishing kits, fraud tools, or stolen data (including credit-card dumps, leaked credentials, account databases, or any data obtained through unauthorised access).
- Content that infringes copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual-property rights — including pirated software, movies, games, e-books, and music for which you do not hold the necessary rights.
- Content that harasses, threatens, defames, doxxes, or invades the privacy of another person.
- Content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or in the recipient’s jurisdiction.
- Content that violates export controls or economic-sanctions laws, including U.S. OFAC regulations.
3. Prohibited use of the infrastructure
- Do not attempt to overload, flood, or denial-of-service the signaling server, the website, or any related infrastructure.
- Do not probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system without our express written permission.
- Do not bypass, evade, or attempt to circumvent any rate limit, IP block, or other protective measure.
- Do not run automated bots, crawlers, or scrapers against the Service except for well-behaved indexing of public marketing pages.
- Do not use the Service to relay or proxy traffic that is unrelated to a genuine peer-to-peer file transfer.
4. Reporting abuse
If you become aware of content or conduct on the Service that violates this AUP, please report it immediately to [email protected] with the subject “Abuse Report” and include:
- a clear description of what you observed;
- the room code, peer ID, IP address, or any other identifier you saw (if any);
- the approximate date and time;
- your contact information so we can follow up if needed.
For child-safety emergencies in the United States, also contact the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline.
5. Copyright complaints (DMCA)
Copyright complaints are handled in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. See the “DMCA & copyright complaints” section of our Terms of Service for the required elements of a notice. Send notices to [email protected] with the subject “DMCA Notice”.
6. Enforcement
We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, take any of the following actions in response to a violation (or suspected violation) of this AUP:
- block your IP address or device fingerprint;
- terminate any active session;
- refuse future use of the Service;
- cooperate with, and disclose information to, law-enforcement authorities to the extent required or permitted by law.
